Liar's Bar Quick Start Guide
General Rules
- Win Condition: Be the last one standing!
- Your left player is the previous player, right player is the next player (could be the same person in 2-player mode)
- Use A/D to select cards (or dice numbers), SPACE to check your cards (or dice) during non-play phase, X to challenge previous player, E to play your cards (honest or bluffing)
- Each round ends with challenging the previous player, followed by firing a bullet (or drinking poison) based on revealed cards (or numbers)
- You can challenge the previous player (called "Call them out!")
- Play proceeds counter-clockwise, with the previous round's loser going first
Card Game Rules
Each player's revolver is loaded with one bullet, randomly positioned between shots 1-6 (actual bullet position is fixed, guaranteed hit when that turn comes). Other players' (x/6) indicator shows bullets fired. e.g., death occurs after (5/6).
Setup
- One card from Q/K/A is designated as the Table card - everyone must claim this card
- Cards aren't revealed unless challenged, so bluffing is possible, but your next player can challenge you
- The Table card is fixed in the top-left corner as a reminder
- Each player gets 5 cards from:
- Q×6, K×6, A×6
- Joker cards J×2 (can be used as Table card)
Gameplay
- Play 1-3 cards per turn, quantity is your choice (independent of previous player)
- Previous player's card quantity shown in top-left corner
- When previous player plays:
- Press "X" to challenge with "Liar!" or play your own cards
- If challenged, cards are revealed
- If they're Table cards, challenger takes a bullet (becomes round loser)
- If they're not Table cards, previous player takes a bullet (becomes loser)
Hell Mode
A Table card is replaced with a Devil card (red), playable only one at a time. If challenged and revealed as Devil card, everyone except the player who played it plays Russian Roulette.
Card Game Tips
- Use A/D to select cards, SPACE to confirm selection, E to play, X to challenge
- Pure Table cards or pure bluffs recommended over mixing
- J cards are wildcards - can be played as Table cards
- In heads-up play, final cards must be Table cards
- Three fake cards often discourage challenges
- Public games often see first-round bluffs
- Games rarely exceed three rounds
Dice Game Rules
- Each player has two poison bottles - death upon drinking both
- Everyone rolls 5 dice, check numbers with SPACE
- First player can call any quantity of any number
- Next player must call same quantity of different number or higher quantity of same number
- Total dice count based on all players' dice (5 × player count)
Challenging
Press "X" to challenge:
- If actual count is less than called, they drink poison
- If actual count matches or exceeds, you drink poison
Example:
- Previous calls "three 5s", but only two 5s exist - your challenge succeeds
- Previous calls "six 3s", six or more 3s exist - your challenge fails
Traditional Mode
- 1s are wild (can be any number)
- Exact guess rule: If challenge reveals exact count, everyone except previous player drinks poison
Dice Game Tips
- Calls must escalate in quantity or maintain quantity with different number
- Target commonly occurring numbers to shift pressure
- In 2-player games, consider small bluffs with numbers you don't have
