Sharing Several Gaming Tips for The Liar's Bar

Liar's Bar Update Guide: Ranked Mode, Liar's Poker & What's New

Liar's Bar has grown well beyond the four-player bluffing game that took off in late 2024. Following the studio's 2025 roadmap, the game added a competitive Ranked ladder, a new Liar's Poker mode, fresh bars and characters, and major anti-cheat and performance work. Here's everything that changed so you know exactly what to expect the next time you sit down at the table.

Liar's Bar update overview

Ranked Mode & the New Matchmaking System

The headline addition is Ranked Mode, built on a completely rebuilt matchmaking system:

  • Non-host-based matchmaking — games no longer depend on a single host's connection, which shuts down a whole class of host-side cheating and makes competitive play far fairer.
  • A staged rollout — Ranked launched with Liar's Deck, followed by Liar's Dice, with more rulesets joining the ranked pool over time.
  • Cleaner points — ranking points are no longer affected by hosting games or by the Lobby List, and a global points reset put everyone on a level ladder.
  • Growing capacity — matchmaking started with a few thousand concurrent ranked players and has kept scaling up.

If you only ever played private rooms with friends, Ranked is the reason to finally try public matchmaking — it is where the tension runs highest.

Liar's Poker: The New Mode

Liar's Poker is the biggest new ruleset since launch. It brings poker-style hands into the bar's signature call-the-bluff-or-pay-the-price loop, and it was added to the Ranked pool shortly after release. The developers later rebalanced and redesigned it, including reworked Switch mechanics, to keep matches fair and readable. As always, one bad call still ends at the revolver — the stakes that make Liar's Bar famous are fully intact. New to it? Warm up in a private room before taking it to Ranked.

Liar's Deck Remaster

The original card mode, Liar's Deck, received a full remaster: renewed animations, a cleaner UI, and better readability all around. The rules you know still apply — see our Liar's Deck basics — the mode simply looks and feels sharper now.

New Bars, Characters & Anti-Cheat

  • New bars with their own mood and lighting, plus new characters joining the original cast — meet the whole crew on our Characters page.
  • Extensive anti-cheat improvements, anchored by the new non-host matchmaking.
  • Performance optimizations and bug fixes, with special attention to lower-end systems for smoother, lag-free play. (Dropping graphics from High to Medium still helps most rigs.)
