Liar's Bar Troubleshooting, Community & FAQ

Fixes for the most common technical problems, plus where the community actually hangs out and a few mechanic questions that don't fit anywhere else.

Stuck on the Warning / Loading Screen

1. Verify game files through Steam: right-click Liar's Bar → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.
2. Force a specific renderer via launch options — right-click Liar's Bar → Properties → General → Launch Options, and try -dx11 or -d3d11. Restart your PC before relaunching after changing this.
3. Make sure the game and your GPU drivers are both fully up to date — use the official NVIDIA driver download or AMD support page, not a third-party driver site.

"Lost Connection" / Can't Join a Lobby

• Restart your router, then your PC — this clears a surprising number of "can't reach the server" issues.
• Allow Liar's Bar through Windows Firewall (or your third-party antivirus/firewall) — Microsoft recommends allowing the app rather than opening a port permanently.
• Check you're on the latest version — Steam should auto-update, but if a launch got interrupted you can force it via Verify Integrity of Game Files (above).
• If it's server-side rather than local, peak hours can mean temporary overload; the official Discord is usually the fastest place to check if others are seeing the same thing.

Red / Broken Screen After Changing Resolution

Some players have fixed a red-screen display bug after a resolution change by clearing the game's saved display settings from the Windows Registry, at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SoftwareCurve AnimationLiar's Bar. This is a more advanced fix than the others on this page — back up the registry key (or just export it) before deleting anything, and only do this if verifying game files and a normal resolution change in-game haven't already fixed it.

Gameplay FAQ

How many players can I have in one lobby? Tables currently max out at 4 players.

Can I play with just 2 people? Yes, 2 players is supported down from the usual 4.

What is the "Devil's Deal" / Devil card? One card in the deck can be swapped for the Devil card, which counts as matching the table on its own but can only ever be played alone. If someone calls "Liar" on a Devil card, every player at the table pays the price at once — except the one who played it.

What is the "God saved" mechanic? In Liar's Poker, a fully-loaded revolver still has roughly a 5% chance to not fire when it's your turn to pay the price — players call this getting "God saved."
